Born in a poor family, Chikkarangappa is known as the ‘hamlet boy’ of golf in India. To give wings to his dreams, he joined as a worker in a golf club at a paltry wage of Rs. 50 per month. Today, he is a big winner in this sport which is pre-conceived to be made for the affluent. His is a classic rags-to-riches story with golf being his biggest love. He began practicing golf swings with a tree branch and his passion made him win his first golf trophy at the tender age of 11. . The point is, when this young man born and bred by farm laborers could excel in golf, why can’t any other passionate aspirant?
